MERELISE WILSON STYLING 101

I often get asked exactly how my styling services work, so it seemed like a good time to put together a quick “guide” to working with me! I hope the below helps you understand more about who I am, what I do, and why I’m the perfect stylist for you to work with.

People are my passion.

As the daughter of a psychologist, I’ve always had a desire to understand and help people, and styling has become the vehicle by which I do that. In the world of Instagram influencers and online robo-shoppers, my goal is to bring back one-on-one human interaction through personalized shopping experiences.

Style is not a one size fits all thing - I pride myself on getting to know my clients, which is how I’m able to successfully do what I do. While personal styling may not be as simple as “swiping up” to shop, I promise it will be worthwhile!

MY RATES

I don’t believe you can put a time limit on finding the perfect outfit and thus I don’t charge hourly. I prefer to work on a “project” basis, where the bigger the project and more time extensive I expect it to be, the more it will cost. So while I’ve estimated about how many hours each project will take, I don’t limit myself based on time and that allows me to truly find the perfect mix of clothes, shoes, and accessories for each client.

IN PERSON SHOPPING

Many people traditionally think of a personal stylist as someone who goes shopping with you, taking you to different stores and pulling things off the rack for you to try on, on the spot. Contrary to this version of a personal shopper, I prefer to do the majority of my client shopping online. There are several reasons for this, the first and foremost being time - we are all busy people who live in a busy world. Driving from store to store, trying on different articles of clothing in a poorly lit dressing room, is not the most efficient use of our time together and probably not the way you want to spend those precious few extra hours of your weekend!

Second, product offerings are going to be severely limited when you’re only shopping in person. For example, the J. Crew in Midtown may stock a completely different selection of items than the J. Crew in Buckhead, but JCrew.com has everything those two stores have and more. Online shopping gives me a larger selection of items and sizes to work with and increases the odds that I’ll find the perfect thing for you.

MY SERVICES

I offer two distinct services offerings - Full-Service Styling and Digital Styling. It’s important for me to provide both of these services so that each client can decide what works best for them based on their lifestyle, budget and location. Full-Service Styling is going to be a more extensive & traditional styling experience where I do all the heavy lifting for you, including purchasing the clothes and returning what you don’t want. Digital Styling is a simplified version of my styling service and great for people who are dipping their toe into personal styling. You can read more about the differences between the two services and what exactly you get at the end of the day, in these two blog posts: Full-Service Styling 101 and Digital Styling 101.

My Styling Packages

I offer five different packages based on the most common types of styling requests I get - Seasonal Refresh, Special Events, Vacation Packing, Weddings, and Maternity. You can read more about each package by clicking on the link to the individual pages! Once you’ve read through each package, if you still don’t see what you’re looking for, reach out to me! I can put a Custom Package together for you based on exactly what you need.
