CURATEUR SUBSCRIPTION BOX REVIEW
There are a lot of subscription boxes out there - from FabFitFun to Ipsy, they all offer different types of products and promise to overdeliver on value relative to the cost to subscribe. But which are truly worth it?
As a fashion & product junkie, I’ve tried a lot of subscription services over the years, and Curateur né Rachel Zoe Box of Style, is my longest running subscription to date. I signed up for the curated box 3 years ago and haven’t looked back since!
Each season’s box has five items hand selected by the style legend herself, Rachel Zoe. The selection is usually a mix of jewelry, beauty, accessories (scarves, purses, etc.) and home goods (candles, trays, etc.). The quality of each product is always top notch - I’ve been using a purse from the Spring 2020 box every day for 7+ months now and it’s in great shape, which is a miracle because I’m very tough on bags! The brands are usually a mix of well-known brands (Anastasia Beverly Hills, for example) and new brands worth discovering (there was an Eddie Borgo necklace in the Fall 2020 box that I’m obsessed with), as well as usually one item from Rachel Zoe’s own personal brand.
Curateur Winter 2020 Box
Here’s how it works:
1) You sign up for the subscription either quarterly or annually - if you choose to prepay for the year you save $50 annually (or a 12.5% discount for my fellow math nerds out there).
2) Regardless of the subscription you choose, every season (Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter) you receive a notice telling you it’s time to customize your box, which means of the five items you’re about to receive, you get to customize one. It’s usually a choice between colors (black or tortoise sunglasses) or products (a necklace or the coordinating earrings) from the same brand. The other four items in the box are automatically selected and are the same for every member.
3) After you confirm your selection of the customizable item, you’ll get a chance to browse “The Shoppe,” which is a Curateur members-only bazaar with pretty heavily discounted designer & high end products, ranging from beauty products to home goods. You can purchase from The Shoppe year-round, but they’ll always remind you before you finalize your seasonal box in case you want to add any goodies to your box that is shipping soon.
4) Once your full order is confirmed, you wait for your customized box to ship! It arrives beautifully packaged and usually with a few surprises like discount codes for major brands, including the ones highlighted in the current season’s box.
If you’re having trouble deciding on what subscription is right for you, I would think about what you want to get out of the subscription. If you’re looking for a fashion-forward vibe with a mix of high-end clothes, accessories, beauty and lifestyle, then I would say Curateur is the one for you. Two things make the Curateur box stand out for me above all other subscription boxes - the style and quality of the items. I’ve never disliked anything in the box, in fact many of the items are staples in my closet now, and you’re getting $400+ worth of luxury goods each season for $87 - $100, depending on your subscription. You can’t argue with those returns!
